About
the Website
This interactive campus
map system for LSU is intended to be a map tool to guide new students
and visitors to the campus.
Different Map Output types
The maps can be basically viewed in 3 different output types.
PLEASE SELECT A MAP OUTPUT TYPE BEFORE YOU REQUEST FOR A MAP
(Default is JPEG map).
=>JPEG: This
is the default map setting. This can be viewed in any browser without
any installation of any kind of plug in. These maps can be zoomed and
panned with controls present around the map. However these maps would
not have any of the interactive features that come with the ActiveCGM
or Java Applet maps (like magnification, tool tips etc). The image clarity
of these maps are low.
=> ActiveXCGM
ActiveX CGM maps are the most dynamic maps with a wide range of options
for the user including zooming, panning, scaling and tooltip options.
PLEASE RIGHT CLICK ON THE MAP TO SEE THESE INTERACTIVE OPTIONS.
To view the maps in this format, you would need a ActiveXCGM Control to
be installed in your browser (if it doesn't exist already). Please go
to the help section by clicking "Help" on top of the homepage
to install ActiveXCGM manually.
=>Java Applets:
These maps are similar to the ActiveCGM maps except that they do not have
all the interactive features that come with an ActiveCGM maps.
PLEASE RIGHT CLICK ON THE MAP TO SEE THESE INTERACTIVE OPTIONS.
There is no necessity to install any kind
of plug in to view these maps. If a user wants to have interactive maps
but cannot install the ActiveCGM control plug in, he can go for Java applets
as the map output type. These maps do not have the magnification or priting
options like the ActiveCGM maps.
